Roles

Each person in an organization has one of three roles: View, Contributor, or Admin. Contributors post and manage events; admins also manage people. You can have a different role in each organization you belong to.

The members page describes the roles in one line: View: sees everything. Contributor: also posts and edits events. Admin: also manages members.

View suits an athletic director, a parent volunteer, or anyone who should see what the team has posted without changing it.

Any contributor or admin can edit any of the organization’s events, not only the ones they posted. When a coach leaves, the events stay with the team. The event page shows who last changed it, and members can choose History in the event page’s menu to see every change.

When someone changes, changes the status of, or cancels an event, the person who posted it and the organization’s admins get an email. You don’t get an email about your own changes.

Site admins run the service. Their site admin powers don’t depend on belonging to an organization. Events publish and organizations verify without them. They:

  • Decide on an event that reports hid a second time, after its host already fixed it once: Restore or Remove. See New organizations and reports.
  • Merge duplicate organizations, and can verify an organization by hand.
  • Keep each state’s season rules (the dates and limits Our Season counts against) and import schools from the school directory.
  • Help any organization with its members and events when asked. Their changes are marked as site admin changes and recorded in an audit log.
  • Look at Report a problem reports when they need a person.
