New organizations and reports
Every event is public as soon as you post it. Nobody approves it first. Organizations that are new to Wrestling Aide are marked as new until they verify, which happens on its own, and coaches keep the posts honest with Report a problem.
Verified and new organizations
Section titled “Verified and new organizations”The organization page shows Verified or Unverified under the name.
- Schools loaded from state data start out verified.
- Organizations added by users (with My organization isn’t listed or Add an organization) start out unverified.
While an organization is unverified:
- Its event pages show “Posted by a new organization on Wrestling Aide. Check with the host before counting on it.” to people outside the organization. Your own members don’t see this note.
- It can have up to 5 upcoming events at a time. Posting a sixth says “New organizations can have up to 5 upcoming events.” Once an event ends, it no longer counts.
Everything else works the same: the event is in search, saved search emails go out, and teams can watch it, mark attending, and join its wait list.
How an organization gets verified
Section titled “How an organization gets verified”Wrestling Aide checks every hour and verifies an organization when either of these is true:
- A member’s email is on the organization’s website domain. For example, a coach with a confirmed
@pierz.k12.mn.usaddress belongs to an organization whose Website ishttps://www.pierz.k12.mn.us. Subdomains count. Free email providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail, iCloud, and AOL never count. The organization needs a Website on its settings page for this to work. - One of its events has been up 14 days with no report. The event has to be public for two weeks without anyone reporting a problem with it.
An organization isn’t verified automatically while someone’s report about the organization itself is still open, or while one of its events is hidden or removed because of reports. A site admin can also verify an organization by hand.
When coaches report an event
Section titled “When coaches report an event”Anyone can use Report a problem at the bottom of an event page, for example for a wrong date, a duplicate, or an event that isn’t real. Visitors who aren’t logged in enter their email.
When 3 different people report the same event within 60 days, and at least 2 of them were logged in, the event is held:
- It’s hidden from search, saved searches, calendar feeds, and the website embed.
- Its page is visible only to members of the host organization, with “Hidden for now: several coaches reported a problem with this event.” Anyone else who opens the link sees “This event isn’t available.”
- The badge on the event page and on My Events reads Hidden (reported).
- The person who posted it gets “Your event is hidden for now: Event”. If that person is no longer a contributor or admin, the organization’s admins get it.
Put it back up
Section titled “Put it back up”- Open the event and read what might be wrong: a date, the address, a duplicate of another post.
- Choose Edit, fix the details, and choose Save changes.
Saving puts the event back up right away and closes the reports against it. This works once.
Held a second time
Section titled “Held a second time”If the event is reported by 3 more people after your fix, it’s held again, and this time it stays hidden until a site admin looks at it. You get “Your event is hidden for now: Event” saying a site admin will decide, and the site admins get one email.
- Restore: the event is back up, and you get “Your event is back up: Event”.
- Remove: the event stays hidden for good. Its page tells your members “A site admin removed this event after reports.” You get “Your event was removed: Event”.
Reports about an organization
Section titled “Reports about an organization”Report a problem with this organization on an organization page works differently. Nothing is hidden. When a third different person reports the same organization, the site admins get one email and decide whether to act.
Rules and limits
Section titled “Rules and limits”- Only reports from different people count toward a hold. Visitors who aren’t logged in are counted by the email they enter.
- Reports older than 60 days, and reports a site admin resolved, don’t count.
- Nobody gets an email for a single report. The host hears about reports only when the event is held.
- Editing a held event only puts it back up after its first hold.
