Forms
A host can send the event’s teams a form instead of a Google Form or SignUpGenius: a pre-event survey of wrestlers per division and coaches, a post-event survey, or any questions you need answered. Each team gets a link in Messages and answers once, on the site. You read the answers in a grid with totals.
Forms are on the event page’s Forms menu item, for the host’s contributors and admins.
Write a form
Section titled “Write a form”- On your event’s page, choose Forms in the menu, then New form.
- Give it a Title, and an Introduction if it helps, like what it’s for.
- Pick Answers due by if you need answers by a day. The form closes after that day. Leave it empty to take answers until you close it.
- Add questions with Add a question, or choose Start from the pre-event survey to begin with wrestlers coming per division, coaches coming, arrival time, and a note. Change anything.
- Select Save form. It’s a draft until you send it.
Each question has an Answer type:
| Answer | What the coach fills in |
|---|---|
| Short answer | A line of text, up to 300 characters |
| Paragraph | Several lines, up to 4,000 characters |
| Number | A whole number |
| Yes or no | Yes or No |
| Choice (one of a list) | One of the choices you list, one per line (2 to 30) |
| Date | A date |
Mark a question Required if every team must answer it. The team’s name comes with each answer, so there’s no need to ask for it. A form can have up to 50 questions.
Wrestler counts fill in team size
Section titled “Wrestler counts fill in team size”A Number question can count wrestlers in one division: set Fills in team size for to Varsity, JV, Girls varsity, Girls JV, or Middle school. A team’s answer then becomes its team size in that division for the event’s season, which other coaches see on Teams Attending and you see as Est. wrestlers. A count the team entered on Our Season itself is never replaced. One that came from a form follows the team’s latest answer.
Send it
Section titled “Send it”- Open the form and select Send.
- Under Send to, pick Teams attending, Wait list, Both (when the event has a wait list), or One team.
- Add a Note if you like, and choose whether to Share my email and phone with them.
- Select Send.
Each team gets a link to the form in its own conversation with you in Messages, with an email. Sending again, say after more teams sign up, skips teams that already have it. A team nobody from is on Wrestling Aide gets the form by email at the contact you keep for it (Add contact under Teams Attending), with a link to answer without an account. A team with no one on the site and no contact can’t get it; the page names those teams so you can add a contact and send again.
Read the answers
Section titled “Read the answers”Open the form from Forms (See answers). The grid has a row per team: when it answered, who answered, where it was sent (Messages, or the contact’s email), and a column for each question. Number questions add up in the Total row at the bottom. Search, sort, and filter the grid, and Download CSV for a spreadsheet.
Below the grid, Not answered yet names the teams still to answer. Remind sends each of them a reminder in the same conversation, with an email.
Under More:
- Edit: change the title, introduction, due date, and questions. Once a team has answered, the questions stay as they are; the rest can still change.
- Close the form: no more answers or changes. Open it again takes answers again (and clears a due date that has passed).
- Delete: removes the form and its answers.
Answer a form (for coaches)
Section titled “Answer a form (for coaches)”When a host sends your team a form, you get a message with a link, and the event page shows Forms From the Host with an Answer button. Contributors and admins of the team can answer.
- Open the link, or select Answer on the event page.
- Fill in the questions. Ones marked “(optional)” can stay empty.
- Select Send answers.
Your team answers once. Anyone who posts for your team can change the answers until the form closes: open it again and select Save changes. After it closes, the page shows your answers; message the host if something’s wrong. If the form went to more than one of your teams, the page asks Which Team? first.
Without an account
Section titled “Without an account”If nobody from your team is on Wrestling Aide, the host can email the form to you as your team’s contact. Open the link in the email, fill in the questions and Your name (so the host knows who answered), and select Send answers. No account is needed; the same link lets you change the answers until the form closes. A free account puts your team’s forms, messages, and season in one place.
Next season
Section titled “Next season”Copy to Next Season brings the event’s forms along as drafts, with their due dates moved with the event. Check them and send them again. See Copy and next season.
