Views and downloads

The same search can show as Compact (one line per event), a List (a sortable table), or a Map, and you can download it with CSV. Everyone can use every view; the filters stay the same when you switch.

The events list opens in Compact. Pick another view with the List and Map buttons in the results bar. On a phone they show icons only. The choice is kept in the page address, so a shared link opens in the same view.

One line per event, easy to scan: a date block (month, day, weekday), the event name with its status, the venue and city with the distance, then tags: High school or Middle school (school season, blue) or Youth and club (year-round, green), the genders, the event type, and the styles for youth events. It also shows “6 of 8 teams” (“8 teams wanted” before any team has marked attending) and “Registration closes in 3 days” when they apply. Register opens the registration link when registration is open. Select anywhere else on the line to open the event.

A table with one row per event: Dates, Event, Host, City, Type, Divisions, Status, Distance (when a starting point is set), Contact, and Email. Click a column header to sort by it. The event name links to its page. Email is blank for hosts who keep their contact private.

Pins for each event, colored by status: green for Open, yellow for Near capacity, gray for Full, red for Cancelled. Select a pin to see the name, dates, status, city, and host, with a link to the event. Your starting point shows as a separate marker.

Scroll-wheel zoom is off so the page scrolls normally. Use the map’s + and − buttons to zoom.

  1. Set up the search you want.
  2. Select CSV at the right end of the results bar (on a phone, the spreadsheet icon).
  3. Open wrestling-events.csv in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers.

The file has these columns: Start date, End date, Event, Host, Type, Divisions, Styles, Status, Venue, City, State, Registration deadline, Registration link, Teams wanted, Contact, Email, Phone, Drive minutes, Miles, and Link. Email and Phone are blank for hosts who keep them private, unless the event is your own organization’s.

  • Compact and List load 60 events at a time. Select Show more at the bottom for the next batch.
  • The spreadsheet shows 50 rows per page. To see more at once, pick 100, 250, or 500 under Page Size below the table, or use the page arrows.
  • In tables with an Actions column (To-dos, Teams Attending, My Events, Vendors, and Site Admin), each action is an icon, like a pencil for edit or a check for done. Point at it, or tab to it, to see what it does. The column stays at the right edge while the rest of the table scrolls.
  • The map shows up to 1,000 events at once.
  • An event whose address hasn’t been located yet can’t go on the map. A note under the map says how many are missing; switch to Compact or List to see them.
  • The CSV holds the whole search, up to 2,000 events, no matter how many are loaded on screen. It uses the same filters and sort as the page.
  • In the CSV, a cell that starts with =, +, -, or @ gets an apostrophe in front so spreadsheet apps don’t treat it as a formula.

The shaded results bar above the search results on the Events page: the count, Sort, the view buttons, and CSV. On a phone it also has Filters, and it sticks to the top as you scroll.
