Saved searches
A saved search emails you when something new matches it. Save one from the Events page to hear about new events, or from the Teams Looking board to hear about teams looking for events. Anyone with an account can save searches, including parents and fans with no organization.
Save search (a bookmark button in the results bar, next to Sort) shows whenever there are results, and also when a filtered search has nothing yet. That’s a good time to save one: you hear about the first event that matches.
Save a search
Section titled “Save a search”- Set up the search on the Events page or the Teams Looking board.
- Select Save search in the results bar. Logged out, it takes you to log in first; after you log in, you come back to the same search with the Save This Search dialog open.
- Change the Name if you like.
- Under Email me, choose As soon as something matches or Once a day, in the morning.
- For event searches, leave Also when a full event opens up again on to hear when a full event reopens.
- Under Dates, choose how far ahead the saved search looks. See Dates in a saved search.
- Save it. The dialog says “Saved.” with a link to Manage saved searches.
What sets off an email
Section titled “What sets off an email”Event searches
- New event: an event is published that matches the search. Events publish as soon as they’re posted, including those from new organizations. Each event is emailed once per saved search.
- Reopened: a matching event goes from Full or Cancelled to Open or Near capacity, if the saved search has the reopen option on.
Saved searches only email about Open and Near capacity events, even if the search had a different Status filter.
Teams Looking searches
- A new post is posted that matches the search. Edits to an existing post don’t send another email.
Immediate or daily digest
Section titled “Immediate or daily digest”- Right away: one email per match, within about a minute.
- Daily digest: one email each morning with everything that matched since the last digest, with the saved search’s name next to each item. Events that closed or were cancelled in the meantime are left out.
Weekly summary instead under Account Settings > Email Notifications overrides this: turn it on and all your saved search and post emails come in one email on Monday mornings, whatever each one is set to. Each saved search then says so next to Email me. On Mondays the digest also lists dates on your team’s season where the host changed the event and nobody has reviewed the change yet. Contributors and admins get this even with no saved searches; see Host changes. See Email notifications.
Dates in a saved search
Section titled “Dates in a saved search”The dialog’s Dates choice sets the saved search’s date range, since presets like This weekend would stop making sense a week later:
- Any upcoming date: the saved search covers every future event.
- The rest of this season: the saved search keeps the season’s end date (August 31).
- Next season (the label names the season, like “Next season 2027-28”): the saved search covers next season, September 1 through August 31.
- The dates you picked, like “2027-01-09 to 2027-01-18”: offered when the search used Date range….
The dialog starts on the choice that matches the search’s Dates filter: your picked dates, the rest of the season, next season, or otherwise any upcoming date.
A saved search whose end date has passed stops sending and shows Ended: dates passed on the Saved Searches page.
A distance limit is saved with its starting point. A starting point with no Within limit isn’t saved.
Registration still open is saved with an event search too. It’s on unless you turn it off, so a search saved with it on only matches events whose registration deadline hasn’t passed. Open search on a search saved without it opens the search with the switch off.
Manage saved searches
Section titled “Manage saved searches”The Saved Searches page lists each saved search with a short summary of its search and the date of its last email.
- Email me: switch between Right away and Daily digest.
- When full events reopen: turn reopen emails on or off (event searches).
- On: pause or resume the saved search. Paused ones show Paused.
- Magnifying glass (Open this search): run the saved search on its page.
- Trash can (Delete this saved search): remove the saved search after confirming.
- Calendar Feed: event searches have a private calendar address. See below.
Stop emails
Section titled “Stop emails”Every right-away saved search email ends with Stop these emails. The link opens a page with a Turn off button; it pauses that saved search, and you can turn it back on from the Saved Searches page. Digest emails have a Manage saved searches button instead; pause saved searches from the Saved Searches page. Mail apps that show their own Unsubscribe button use the same link.
To stop every saved search email at once, turn off Saved searches: new matching events and teams under Account Settings > Email Notifications.
Calendar feed per saved search
Section titled “Calendar feed per saved search”Each event search you save has its own calendar address, under Calendar Feed on its card. Subscribe to it in your calendar app to see the search’s events, plus registration deadlines, as calendar entries. Make a new address replaces it; the old one stops working. See Calendars.
Rules and limits
Section titled “Rules and limits”- Up to 50 saved searches per account.
- Names can be up to 120 characters.
- Emails go to your account’s email address, and only after you’ve confirmed it.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”Save search is in the results bar on the Events page and the Teams Looking board. Manage saved searches from the Saved Searches tab.
