Watching

Watching an event is a way to say “I’m interested in this one.” You get an email when its status changes and a reminder three days before registration closes. Anyone with an account can watch, including parents and fans with no organization.

  1. Open the event page.
  2. Select Watch in the row of buttons under the event’s title.
  3. The button changes to Watching, with “We’ll email you if the status changes or registration is about to close.”

Logged out, the button says Log in to watch. After you log in, you come back to the event and it’s already watched, with “You’re watching this event.” at the top.

To stop, open the event and select Watching again.

Status changes. When the host changes the status, for example Full back to Open or Open to Near capacity, you get “… is now open” with the old and new status. Cancellations are status changes too.

Registration reminder. If the event has a registration deadline, you get one “Registration closes soon” email when the deadline is less than three days (72 hours) away. It has a Register button when the host added a registration link. Cancelled events don’t send reminders.

The Saved Searches page has an Events You’re Watching section, soonest first. Events drop off the list a week after they end.

From the same section, Subscribe in your calendar gives you a private calendar address for your watched events. See Calendars.

On the Account Settings page, under Email Notifications:

  • Changes to events I’m watching controls the status emails.
  • Registration deadline reminders controls the reminders.
  • You can watch public events that haven’t ended. Events hidden after reports and past events have no Watch button.
  • Members of the host organization don’t see Watch on their own events.
  • Members of the host organization don’t get watch emails for their own organization’s events. They get activity emails instead.
  • The reminder is sent once per watched event. If you start watching inside the three-day window, it comes within the hour.
  • Hosts see how many people are watching each event in the host panel on the event page and on My Events.

Watch is in the row of buttons under the title of every event page. Your watched events are on the Saved Searches page.
