Calendars
You can put events in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, or any other calendar app. Add to calendar saves one event. Calendar feeds are addresses your calendar app checks on its own, so new and changed events show up by themselves.
Add one event
Section titled “Add one event”On an event page, select Add to calendar. Your browser saves a calendar file; open it to add the event to your calendar.
- The entry is all-day, spanning the event’s dates, with the venue address, host, contact, and a link to the event page. When the host keeps their email and phone private, the entry has only the contact’s name and “message through the event page”.
- It’s a one-time copy. If the host changes the event later, your calendar doesn’t update.
- The button is hidden once the event has ended or is cancelled.
Calendar feeds
Section titled “Calendar feeds”| Feed | Where to get it | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| An organization’s events | The organization’s page, Calendar section | Anyone. The address is public. |
| Your watched events | Saved Searches page, Events You’re Watching, Subscribe in your calendar | Private to you |
| A saved search’s events | Saved Searches page, Calendar Feed on a saved event search | Private to you |
Subscribe
Section titled “Subscribe”- Get the feed’s address. On an organization page, Subscribe in your calendar opens your calendar app directly. Anyone can also copy the Calendar address there, on the organization’s Calendar page.
- For watched events and saved searches, select Copy next to the calendar address.
- In your calendar app, subscribe to a calendar with a web address. In Google Calendar, that’s Other calendars, From URL.
- Paste the address and save.
What’s in a feed
Section titled “What’s in a feed”- Organization feed: the organization’s upcoming published events, up to 200. Cancelled events stay in, marked “CANCELLED:”.
- Watched events feed: events you watch, including ones that ended in the last week.
- Saved search feed: events matching the saved search right now, up to 200. Events that close or are cancelled drop out, unless the saved search picked other statuses under Status.
Each event is an all-day entry with its status, host, contact, and link in the description. As with single events, a private contact shows only the name.
Registration deadlines
Section titled “Registration deadlines”Feeds add a separate all-day entry, “Registration closes: …”, on the day of each event’s registration deadline. The description gives the time and time zone and links to the registration page. Cancelled events don’t get one. The single-event Add to calendar file doesn’t include it.
Reset an address
Section titled “Reset an address”Private feed addresses work for anyone who has them. If one gets shared by mistake, select Make a new address next to it and confirm. The old address stops working right away, and you’ll need to subscribe again with the new one.
The organization feed’s address is public and can’t be reset.
Rules and limits
Section titled “Rules and limits”- Calendar apps decide how often to check a feed. Google Calendar can take several hours to show a change.
- Entries are all-day. Weigh-in and start times are in the event page, linked from each entry.
- The watched events feed button only appears after you watch at least one event.
- Saved Teams Looking searches don’t have a calendar feed.
