Events list page

The events list page shows the upcoming events in one state that still have room. It’s the Events tab. It lives at /<state>, for example /mn, and each level has its own address: /mn/high-school, /mn/middle-school, and /mn/youth.

Anyone can use it, logged in or not. Logging in adds a few things:

Who What they get
Visitors Every event, every filter, all three views, and the CSV (a spreadsheet file) download
Logged in Save search, a New badge on events posted since your last visit, and the Start here card
Members of an organization Distances measured from your organization by default

Post an event at the top is there for everyone. Logged out, it takes you through login and then to the form. If you’re logged in but not in an organization yet, the form explains how to join or add one.

To get here, pick a state on the home page (the logo at the top left goes there), or select the Events tab. The home page always shows Choose Your State: a map of the United States with the states the site serves highlighted, and a button for each of them below it. See Getting around.

The heading names the state and level, like “Minnesota Wrestling Events” or “Minnesota High School Wrestling Events”, with the line “Events that still have room, and who to contact.” Post an event sits on the right and opens the post event form. Visitors who aren’t logged in also see a note, “Browsing is free, no account needed.”, with a link to create a free account; close it with ×.

Logged in, a Start here card at the top lists three steps that make the rest of the app work for you:

  1. Check your organization’s address, since distances and drive times start from it (admins go to the settings page). Without an organization, the step links to joining one.
  2. Pick your level and dates, then Save search.
  3. Post that we’re looking, so hosts with room can find you (contributors and admins). Others get a link to the two-minute guide to finding events.

The X closes the card for good in that browser.

Filters apply as soon as you change them. They’re saved in the page address, so a filtered search can be bookmarked or sent to someone.

On a computer they sit in the Filters sidebar on the left of the page, a short stack of dropdowns that stays in place while the results scroll. Select the × in a filter’s box to clear it. Clear all at the top of the sidebar appears once any filter is set. It clears everything except the view, the sort, and the starting point for distances, and turns Registration still open back on.

The State dropdown is in the header, to the right of the ? Help button. Picking another state opens the events page for that state and keeps your filters. On a phone it shows the two-letter code, like MN.

The Level dropdown comes first: All levels, High school, Middle school, or Youth and club. Choosing one opens that level’s page, like /mn/high-school or /mn/youth.

Each level has its own address, so you can bookmark or share it. Switching levels keeps the filters you already set, except that High school and Middle school drop a Style filter. One line under the page heading explains the level you’re on and which season it follows. For example, High school reads “The official high school season: folkstyle, varsity and JV.”

The level changes which filters show and what the cards put forward:

  • High school shows the Varsity / JV filter. It has no Style filter, since the high school season is folkstyle.
  • Middle school hides Varsity / JV and Style.
  • Youth and club swaps Varsity / JV for Age division and the Born in helper, and its cards leave off the host contact’s name so the dates and registration details stand out.
  • All levels shows every level together.

Under Level:

Filter What’s in it
Gender Any gender until you pick Boys/Co-ed or Girls.
Dates Any dates until you pick This weekend, This week, Next week, This month, Rest of this season, Next season (with its years, like “Next season 2027-28”), or Date range…, which adds From and To date boxes. Weeks run Monday to Sunday.
Event type Any type until you pick individual tournament, dual, dual tournament, tri, quad, or other.

Under Event type, always in view:

Filter What it does
Distance from Type a ZIP code or a city like “Pierz, MN” and press Enter. If you’re in an organization, distances start from it and the box shows “From” your organization’s name underneath. Use my location measures from where your device is; your browser asks permission first.
Within Appears once there’s a starting point: drive times (30 min to 3 hr) or miles (25 to 150), depending on how the site is set up. With a limit set, the hint reads “Includes nearby states”.

Without a starting point, the count at the top of the results ends with How far? Enter your ZIP code, which takes you to Distance from.

More filters, at the bottom of the sidebar, is closed unless one of its filters is in use. If it’s open and the sidebar doesn’t fit in the window, the sidebar scrolls on its own; the page and footer stay where they are. It has the rest, in this order:

Filter What it does
Age division Youth and club only. Pick one or more of 6U to 16U.
Born in Youth and club only. Type a four-digit birth year and the hint shows the age division for this season. Select Show 10U (or whichever division) to filter by it.
Varsity / JV All levels and High school.
Style All levels and Youth and club. Folkstyle, freestyle, or Greco-Roman.
Keyword Matches the event name, host, or city. A keyword search shows the event whatever its status, full and cancelled included, and whether or not registration is still open.
Status By default the list shows open and near-capacity events. Pick statuses here to see Full or Cancelled events too.
Season This season or next season.
Membership required All levels and Youth and club. USA Wrestling card, AAU, None, or Other.
Organization type Only events hosted by high schools, youth clubs, and so on.
Skip our blackout dates Shown to members of an organization. Hides events that fall on your organization’s blackout dates from Our Season. It uses the organization you’re acting for.
Registration still open On by default: events whose registration deadline has passed are hidden. Turn it off to see them.

A shaded band above the results holds:

  • Filters (phones and narrow windows only): opens the filters. See On a phone.
  • The count, such as “24 events”, followed by where distances are measured from (“drive times from Pierz, MN”).
  • Sort: Date, Newest, or Distance (only when there’s a starting point).
  • View: Compact, List, or Map. On a phone the buttons show icons only.
  • CSV: downloads every event that matches as a spreadsheet file, with more columns than the List view.

On a phone, the results bar sticks to the top of the screen as you scroll.

Save search, the bookmark in the results bar next to Sort, emails you when new events match this search. On a phone it’s just the bookmark. It shows whenever there are results, and also when a filtered search has no results yet, since that’s when a saved search helps most. Logged out, it takes you to log in first, and you come back to the same search with the dialog open.

The Save This Search dialog has the search’s Name, Email me (As soon as something matches or Once a day, in the morning), Also when a full event opens up again, and Dates:

  • Any upcoming date
  • The rest of this season
  • Next season, with its years, like “Next season 2027-28”
  • The dates you picked, like “2027-01-09 to 2027-01-18”, when you used Date range…

See Saved searches.

If the app can’t find the place you typed, a warning asks you to try a 5-digit ZIP code or a city like “Pierz, MN”. If your organization has no location on file yet, a note says distances aren’t shown.

Compact is the default view: one line per event, with a date block, the name and status, the venue and city, tags for level, boys and co-ed, and type, and a Register button while registration is open. Girls only (every division is the girls’) or Girls too (some are) stands out in purple, and the entry fee shows when the host gave one, like “Entry $25/wrestler, max $300” or “Entry $200/team”.

The line also shows “8 teams wanted” (or “3 of 8 teams”) when the host set a number, and within a week of the registration deadline, “Registration closes in 3 days”, “tomorrow”, or “today”. A New badge marks events posted since your last visit (logged in). Select anywhere on the line to open the event page.

List shows one row per event: dates, event, host, city, type, divisions, status, entry fee, girls, distance, contact, and email. The email is blank for hosts who keep it private. Sort or filter by any column header.

Map shows a pin for each event, colored by status. Select a pin for the event name, dates, status, city, and host. The starting point shows as a separate hollow pin. Events whose address hasn’t been located yet aren’t on the map, and a note under it says how many are missing.

Compact and List show 60 events at a time. Select Show more at the bottom (it says how many are left) to load the next batch.

Full events (unless they have a wait list), and events whose registration has closed, are left out to start with. When some are, the list ends with “3 more events are full or past registration.” and Show them. If every event is, the page says “No Open Events Right Now” with Show them. If no events are posted yet, the page says “No Events Posted Yet” and offers Post an event. If nothing matches your filters, the page says “No Events Match These Filters”, suggests a wider date range or fewer filters, and links to the guide for finding events.

  • The header is one row: the logo, your organization’s icon, the bell, the State dropdown (showing the two-letter code, like MN), and the account menu. The ? Help button is hidden; Help is in the footer. The tabs (Events, Teams Looking, and the rest) sit under it; swipe them sideways if they don’t all fit.
  • There’s no sidebar. Select Filters in the results bar to open the same filters in a sheet from the bottom of the screen. Once filters are set, the button shows how many, like “Filters (3)”. Select Show results to close the sheet, or Clear all to start over.
  • The results bar sticks to the top as you scroll.
  • Compact lines stack in one column.
